Lamar Morgan 954-603-7901 | | Would you believe that some folks actually are afraid to use Twitter? One person even refers to it as "digital crack." Why would someone even think such a thing? Read the article. Share your thoughts. Like it or not, the Twitter Train has left the station. The world of journalism is forever transformed.

Heidi Caswell | | Twitter will be around for a long while. Surprised to see my programmer son using it more. He coded his own blog using node and attaching it to github (don't ask me--all Geek to me) for fun Monday night. Next day he had someone tweet his link and it generated an initial bit of traffic and a few subscribers. Oh, he says, that is what twitter is for. http://howtonode.org/ Don't see him getting addicted to it, for him digital crack is open source programming.

The good thing about twitter is we have have a choice whether to participate or not. We are not required to read every tweet and we have many tools to help filter through the digital overload. For some it is addicting, thus the term digital crack.
Health care on the other hand, if free care is given to all, someone has to foot the bill, they wouldn't be given a choice, but to pay the costs of not only their own health care but also for those who can't or won't pay their own. Kind of scary in a country where medical researchers don't worry about the price tag. No limit to cost.
I guess I see how both have their bit of truth.

Lindy Asimus | | Yes Heidi the great thing about Twitter, it can be used for as narrow an interest one wishes, if they want to use if for a nice interest, or keep it wide open to all kinds of information. We select our own 'poison' in that regard.
On the other ... well of course nothing happens in a vacuum and both the cost and benefit side of any equation need to work to be successful.

Who would have thought a discussion about Twitter would end up dealing with healthcare and socialism. My goodness, how easy it is to get off-track.
However, getting back to Twitter and its uncanny attraction, there is a relatively new service called Ad.ly that places ads in your Twitter tweets, with your permission of course. Then, at the end of the month, Ad.ly pays you for allowing them to campaign through your account. Is that not clever?
Ad.ly is not the first third-party Twitter service to do this. There have been others. The firm, Magpie, comes to mind.
What I find truly fascinating is that more and more online companies are finding ways to interconnect with Twitter. Even Facebook, Squidoo, Foursquare and Aardvark have established unique relationships with Twitter. Perhaps there is a lesson there for Ryzers to learn? Think - better together.

Making it harder for other programs to interact. Not even rss feeds and not easy if possible to pull in any kind of feed from other applications.

I believe Scott W. has said numerous times that Ryze needs to put a whole different system in place here. Is that really what is needed for Ryze to integrate in some fashion with other services?
For example, I think Ryze should interact in some fashion with Twitter, Squidoo and Foursquare. What do you think?

My ISP decided to take over in-house maintenance of its servers, rather than have AT&T do it. When it came time to transfer data over to its brand new servers, all manner of problems resulted. Email went crazy.
Well, what would happen if Ryze decided to build a new system and port over to it the current data? Would we likely experience similar craziness? Adrian must know by now that he needs to start interacting with other services - in much the same way Squidoo, Facebook and Twitter interact with one another. No longer is it appropriate to remain an island unto yourself. Ryze needs to be able to connect with other services, correct? If so, is there a way that Ryze can cost-effectively pursue that option? Or, is it going to be too costly?
