Lamar Morgan 954-603-7901 | | I have long thought that Evite.com was the best online event-planning site. But, I was just recently introduced to a site called MyPunchbowl.com. This site actually takes a comprehensive approach to meeting all your event planning needs. I think it is better than Evite.com. Check it out if you have not already and let me know on this thread what you think. If you know of an even better site for event planning, please share it on this thread.

Scott Wolpow | | I do not have a favorite, rather I find the right tool for the job. Recently I looked a comphrensive online tool that is geared towards business events. It included hotel reservations, dietary considerations, registartion fees etc.
MyPunchbowl.com looks more like a site for parties than events. I also know taht a s a business owner I would not send any clients to site with taht name, unless it was for a festive party.

I accidentally came across the MyPunchbowl service while looking researching an article on Evite.com, which I have used for some time in promoting events - including business mixers, shopping center festivals, public seminars and workshops. What intrigued me is that MyPunchbowl is actually a comprehensive event planning site. It will even assist you in locating vendors for your event. That also includes having yourself listed on their site as a vendor. Therefore, if you happen to be in the "vendor business" this site can also be used to promote what you do. How about that?
I did join MyPunchbowl. I plan to use it next year when I am ready to promote my next Social Media Meetup Workshop. I feel I can benefit from both Meetup's promotional tools and those of MyPunchbowl. I have not figured a way to incorporate Foursquare into the promotional mix, but school's not out yet on what that option may be able to accomplish. Foursquare seems to be adding new innovations all the time.

And today at my New York State Open Data event I did not see one Poken and only one person knew what what was.

I went to the Bump site. I watched the video. this app only works with iPhones and Android phones. What about all the other cell phones? Plus, what contact information is included with Bump? Does it include Skype, Twitter, Facebook and 30+ social networking sites? I don't know. But, I do know that Pokens do include that many social media sites. - including Skype, Twitter and Facebook. What about Handango? I know even less about that.
Now, since I already have a Nokia N810, I am looking forward to placing Android on it. But, will I be able to replace the need for a Poken with my Nokia N810 once I have Android on it? Time will tell.

People in the professional speaking industry appear to be interested in the device. News about it was recently featured in Speaker Net News. I got interest from some folks living in Southern California. One was a member of the National Speakers Association. The Poken definitely has not reached the "tipping point" status of the iPhone, Twitter or even Foursquare. But, unlike the devices you recommend, it has already established affiliations with more than 30 social networks. Put another way, there are more than 30 social networks around the world endorsing this product in some fashion. It think that's a plus for the Swiss company, don't you?

The droid and Iphone can handle any and all social networking resources.

I looked up Verizon's Droid. In many respects, it is indeed impressive. But, NOT in terms of the number of social media connections it allows you to make. The Droid does less than a dozen. Poken does in excess of 30 social networks. Now, if the Droid has a USB port you may be able to transfer your Poken contacts to your Droid and never need to use a standard computer or laptop. You could continue to poke with the Poken and maintain everything with the Droid. Therefore, you have the best of both worlds. But, does the Droid have a USB port? If it does, you can be ready for action using both tools.
