Lamar,

Like I said it would double her current cable sub with TW Cable. Your assumption that HD or high def is not sold in increments, that full 1080p is a given - not true with TWC.

I believe she only gets standard 480i resolution with her current sub. The converter box that they want to sell her cost a fee for the box and also an add-on for the subscription to the HD box, that will nearly double the cost of her current cable subscription.

She lives in a seniors only community where the subscription prices is greatly discounted due to the bulk discounts the community admin has negotiated.

It might be for that reason TWC wants to sock it to the seniors. The cable service in that area was recently changed from Verizon to TWC and some of the free premo stations she got with Verizon disappeared when TWC took over. Anyway, that's what the repair guy told her when he came over to help her with her old tv set, I guess to prepare her since he knew that her old tv was going south.

As for my situation, I only watch the news and a few CSI type shows and I get tv broadcast in high def over an antenna. if you go into any Radio Shack they can explain it to you and sell you an antenna.

Just know the difference between 1080i and 1080p. Blue ray is full 1080p and streaming at better than 25 mbps, that's a lot of information flowing.
