Blake, you did good, what I'd suggest. One thing to do is keep wordpress updated to newest version. Change your ftp passwords.
I use plugins which backup my database daily, emails them to me. My host back up too. I like double protection, cause I don't want to lose content.
Also if you customize your theme, save your theme once set up. That way you can also do a fresh install of your theme.
With your database backed up, fresh files, you can always be up and running, even if you end up switching hosts.
I've seen hackers add junk to wordpress folders such as plugins (you can make a list of plugins you use, then delete them all, fresh install inside wordpress), theme folders, upload files, image folders. I check and see which files were changed at time/date of hacking. imagegif.php in my image folder isn't an image.
